Max Frituur in Bochum

Casual atmosphere, quick preparation, good value for money.

A lot had changed since the change of management (?) Or the exchange of staff. In my eyes even before the 1st lockdown to the negative. The audience and also the staff and the whole atmosphere has changed from slightly bohemian and intellectual to more mainstream trash. Since I met a former employee yesterday, however, I have been appalled by the practices that are said to have gone on in both the MaxFrituur and the Badalona Bar. All the lowest levels of dealing with staff, especially women. No wonder that 10 months ago people with brains were still working in the company who have now quit their jobs 100%. There were probably around 25 employees .... My solution: boycott!

A few years ago I would have loved to give it 5 stars. Good fries, delicious sauces, fair prices and then fancy vegan things like Frikandel. BUT lately I've been bothered by a few: Discussions about whether the Frikandel was ordered vegan or not the fluctuating quality of the fries and, in the summer, more relaxed handling of hygiene regulations. But well, I can see through it. The reason for the reszension is that we were there today and two frikandels were forgotten at the take-out. Can happen, but mustn't if you want to retain your customers. In addition, the sauce portions were halved. In the past, one sauce was enough for me for about a large french fries, today half of the medium fries had reached the end of the sauce.

Delicious, but the brazil sauce was too shallow on the palate. Adding a few mint leaves would certainly do the sauce good!

The fries are usually very tasty when it's not that full. Then they are too limp. But the female waitress today urgently needs good service training. Very bored, didn't ask us to fill out any corona forms (she doesn't care? -> doesn't work at all) and the salt of the fries flies past her. Sure, that is not the most attractive job to work in a "chip shop", but you should always work in a friendly and conscientious manner, especially when dealing with people and food. Even if the fries were good today, the service - no matter where - is extremely important to me these days. Therefore only 3 stars.

We went to Bochum especially to enjoy the delicious Belgian fries. The last time we were there two years ago. Great anticipation for the drive and great disappointment while eating !!!! Quality deteriorated, french fries inside raw, cold, no salt on them ... too bad 😢 Unfortunately I have to give a star, would have rated 0 stars !!!!!

Was my favorite shop, now that everything has to be smart and you just no longer present yourself as a cult, politically correct shop, somehow very strange atmosphere, I guess I won't be able to go there again. What a shame

I should have given 0 stars, the small fries with mayo was inedible, I threw them away. I had the impression that the raw french fries were lying open for too long, the taste might have been pre-fried but then fried in too cold fat, so the fries were oily through and through. So and the artificial mayo was bad in taste. We know better things, for example. The french fries farmer in OB.

I really like the shop when I'm in Bochum a visit is certain

Are there new owners working here? Somehow the atmosphere and the selection of employees has changed. The music is also different.

I liked the previous owners better. There were more vegan choices. And the charm has been lost that made the shop a nice place for me to linger and meet. What a shame...

Because of these fries, we had made an extra detour (170 km 😂) via Bochum and we would not be disappointed. The fries are amazing, even in Belgium I haven't eaten any better ones. The choice of sauces left me speechless and brought me to my knees with emotion. Negative here: if you have the choice you are spoiled for choice. Conclusion: This "chip shop" is worth a trip.

The fries are awesome. The selection of sauces is also very good. The sausage was fresh and delicious. The ambience is also nicely decorated. Staff always attentive.

Small but nice. Very fresh chips to be cut on the spot. In addition a very large selection of sauces. The store is very well located at the end of the Bermuda Triangle, but does not offer many seats. For delicious fries highly recommended.

My favourite fry shop outside of Belgium. Food is decent. Staff is amazing. Doesn't serve food to Nazis.

Best and freshest fries in town. Only frituur around my belgian friend X didn't need to ridicule or insult. Nice lemonades and Belgian beer. Also awesome staff. Top notch.

If you are in Bochum, well then don't miss to get an original belgian style fries menu at MaxFrituur in the middle of the so called "BermudaDreieck" surrounded by pubs and coffeeshops... Have a choice from nearly twenty different homemade sauces. And If you are still hungry you can order plenty of other snacks... My advice : medium fries with half half mango and samurai sauce 3 sate sticks vegetarian burger drink fanta cassis or a bionade Enjoy...
